We all know ‘CORE’ is ‘good for you, right? But why? Among the greatest barriers to our yoga practice and body ease, the lack of real strength in the slow-twitch muscles - the deepest layers of our deep core and deep in our hip and shoulder joints (glutes, lats etc). Did you know that your deep core fires milliseconds before you lift your arm? Studies show that a week deep core (including pelvic floor) is directly correlated with back pain and shoulder/neck issues.

This four hour Sunday workshop is for all levels.
Here is the Structure of the afternoon: We will:

the afternoon will start with a relaxed teatime and muscle info session - using your accessible printed handout and demos
find the layers of your core (with expert instruction) and how to use your breath to help recruit them. Really feeling those muscles.
learn how to co-recruit (engage at the same time) the main players (not the sixpack)
learn body-weight drills to strengthen these muscles (outlined in your take-home handout)
grow the elasticity of your muscles by moving with a light load in your arms (dowel / broomstick / steel mace)
try on your new core muscles in asanas (modifications provided). Quadruped, Plank, Chaturanga, Standing and leaning poses
learn how to relax your deep core with self myofascial release & stretching your abs
let it all go: the workshop ends with a relaxing bodyscan to release all tension.
