About Suzanne Zuber

E-RYT 500 | Anusara ECAT | Steel Mace Vinyasa Head-Coach

Suzanne Zuber is a European-American yogini, international yoga and functional movement coach, instructor, and teacher trainer. Her work bridges classical yoga with modern strength and movement science, offering an integrative approach to resilience, alignment, and embodied awareness.

She has studied classical asana and yoga philosophy alongside cutting-edge anatomy, biomechanics, and therapeutics with some of the world’s most respected teachers, including Noah Mazé, Sianna Sherman, and Douglas Brooks, as well as meditation teachers such as Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.

Suzanne is also a leading voice in the evolution of Steel Mace Vinyasa, as developed by Summer Huntington. Suzanne serves as Head Coach. In this role, she integrates traditional yoga principles with functional strength training, using the steel mace as a tool to develop rotational strength, joint stability, and nervous system resilience. Her approach emphasizes intelligent load, fluid movement, and sustainable strength—bringing a new dimension to modern yoga practice.

With Noah Mazé, she earned her 300-hour advanced teaching certificate during a year-long course of study in Berlin, focusing on alignment-based Hatha and Vinyasa yoga with roots in the Iyengar tradition and an emphasis on physiotherapy taught by Dr. Paula Gelbart. Prior to that, she completed her 200-hour Anusara Yoga teacher training with Siri Peterson and has continued her studies with Sianna Sherman, Adam Ballenger, and other Anusara Master teachers. Suzanne received her Anusara certification in 2018 through the teacher-led Anusara School of Hatha Yoga. She received her 100 hour Steel Mace Vinyasa certification in 2025 with Summer Huntington.

Suzanne’s Journey to STrength-based Ease

Her journey began over a decade ago as a stressed-out, pain-filled young mother and museum professional in a German Ashtanga studio. There, she rediscovered a sense of grace she had missed since her years of dancing ballet—but what stayed with her most deeply was the sense of inner quiet and steadiness the practice offered.

In California, Suzanne encountered Anusara Yoga, whose alignment-based and heart-centered approach helped her overcome chronic pain and transform her relationship to both her body and life’s challenges. This foundation in precise alignment, therapeutic awareness, and embodied philosophy continues to inform everything she teaches.

In recent years, her work has expanded to include Steel Mace Vinyasa, where she now serves as Head Coach. What began as a curiosity for functional strength evolved into a powerful extension of her yoga practice—one that develops rotational strength, joint integrity, and nervous system resilience. Rather than departing from yoga, the steel mace became a new lens through which she explores flow, alignment, and adaptability under load.

From a young age, Suzanne made sense of the world through movement—through the body’s relationship to gravity—and through a refined visual sensitivity to line, shape, and color in space. Growing up, she spent weekends immersed in the vivid worlds of Kandinsky, Monet, and other early modern artists in Munich’s museums. These abstract landscapes felt as alive to her as the mountains, forests, water, and sky of the Bavarian Alps that surrounded her daily.

Later, she studied interior design, art, and architecture at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Today, she brings this rich, multisensory perspective into her teaching—blending yoga, strength training, and steel mace movement—to help you build strength without rigidity and access the subtle sweetness of being fully present in your body, your breath, and your senses.

“My passion for coaching smart, versatile yoga and strength comes from direct experience: Yoga and functional movement was the missing piece that freed my dancer-academic-self from chronic pain. The balance of effort and letting go turned my life around as I reconnected to my innate physical and mental freedom.”
